Testimonials

"Jake arrived at my home in October of 2003, and according to my vet he was about 5 or 6 years old. Jake was not wearing a collar, and after checking with the animal shelter, local vets, and running an ad in the paper I could not locate Jake's owner, so I adopted him, or as my wife puts it he adopted me. Jake was a blessing to me, and since I never had children, and had not owned a dog in 15 years he filled a void for me. Jake loved to ride in my truck, and ride with me on the ATV at the farm. Jake was always watching out for me, letting me know when someone was approaching, but one instance stands the most. One day during summer a couple of years ago I was attempting to get the lawn mowed ahead of an approaching storm. I was at the bottom of my property when the clouds rolled in, and it began to lighting and thunder. All of the sudden there was Jake running down the hill barking at me. He ran back up the hill, and stopped to look back at me, then ran back down the hill barking again. He continued this until I stopped mowing, and got in out of the weather. My wife witnessed this, and said it looked as though Jake was trying to get me to come inside before the storm hit. He was always doing something like that for me. My wife said she does not know how I survived before Jake arrived to watch out for me. On Sunday, December 12, 2010 I had to have Jake euthanize due to cancer. The staff at Greater Cincinnati Veterinary Emergency Services in Wilder were very compassionate, and thoughtful through this difficult time. Thank you!"

Dear Staff and Veterinarian,

"Thank you for taking such good care of "Piper" on December 19th.  We were really frightened when he started dripping blood.  His stitches are out and he is quite chipper.  He has taken over the kitchen as you can see in the photo.  Thank you again!"

Dear Drs. Hall, Bowen, Witalis, Bruner, and staff,

"Bill and I wanted to thank all the doctors and everyone on the staff who helped my dog, Tax, last December when he was stricken with GDV. He has not just been my K-9 partner for over 7 years but my constant companion and friend. Your professional care and concern truly saved his life and words cannot express our gratitude.

Upon returning to Iowa, Trax was seen by our veterinarian, Dr. Ryan, and has had a smooth recovery with minimal diarrhea and vomiting within the first few days of returning home. We used Bitter Orange to discourage any licking at the incision and the staples were removed without any problems. Although initially Trax would not tolerate our other dogs (Hawk and Deker) being near him, their relationship is back to normal and they are playing together again. We are currently treating a bladder infection which we hope will soon be under control.

Trax returned to search training at the end of January, gradually getting him back into condition with building and area search work, then returning to trailing work. He was called out recently to work a case in Illinois involving the death of a 14 year old girl. He worked well and located evidence for the investigation.

He has also returned to doing his therapy dog visits and civic programs. One girl at the Ronald McDonald House, who has undergone 10 operations herself, was most interested in comparing scars and the seniors at the Sarah Harding Residence could really relate to the aches and pains Trax had following his surgery. Trax has also been scheduled to do a program on K-9 Search and Rescue at the Putnam Museum/IMAX Theater, and will spend time with homeless veterans at the annual QCCA Veterans weekend.

Thanks again to everyone who cared for my companion, Trax."
